The work of the Chamber is guided and accomplished by committees who report to the board of directors. Participation is rewarding and provides an opportunity to really make a difference in our community. Members are invited and encouraged to participate on any or all of the following committees. The Chamber also ensures that timely issues are addressed at the board level. Portfolios include Transportation, Economic Development, Health, Education, Housing and Employment. Members are encouraged provide input which then becomes the basis for our Chamber’s positions on these issues. For more information on portfolios please contact any Chamber director.
Member Services Committee:
This is an umbrella committee for ensuring that members’ needs are met, growing the membership, major community events planning, and general membership functions including lunch meetings and Business After 5 mixers. It is the responsibility of this committee to ensure the Chamber provides value to membership.
Member Services Subcommittees:
- WEBSITE : Develops and maintains a website that is relevant and useful to members, tourists and the business community.
- MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS : Ensures that members and the community are in the know about Chamber activities, and initiatives via internal and external media. Produces Chamber e-newsletter. Reviews and develops branding. Designs and conducts member surveys.
- SPEAKER'S BUREAU : Arranges for keynote speakers and presentations for membership meetings and other functions.
- GOURMET GALA : Organizes and presents the Chamber’s major fund raising event which showcases our local wine and culinary industry.
Revenue Generation Committee
Responsible for developing fund raising events, revenue generating projects, and conducting grant research.
Relocation Committee
Tasked with finding a new location for the Visitor Centre and Chamber of Commerce offices.
Tourism Committee:
Responsible for ensuring the Chamber and Visitor Centre meet marketing needs of members and other stakeholders, including efficient and effective operation of the Visitor Centre and satellite info booths. Liaises with all other tourism and economic development organizations and keeps current on tourism issues and trends.
Policy Committee:
Forms policy about local issues based on input from members, and assists in developing policy and positions for the BC Chamber. Responsible for developing the Regional Five Chamber Accord, and is also the Chamber’s government liaison.
Human Resources Committee:
Provides support for staff and volunteer board development.
Governance Committee:
Develops the structure and processes of the board of directors. Periodically reviews and updates constitution and bylaws.
Finance Committee:
Responsible for developing budget, producing financial statements, and operating the chamber in a fiscally responsible manner.
