The Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce, is delighted to present For the Love of Nonprofits. This one-day professional development and networking symposium will be held at the Best Western Cowichan Valley Inn on Wednesday, April 10th, 2019.
Similar to our Small Business BIG DAY symposium held last October, the day will be (even more) jam-packed with fantastic speakers and presenters. Only this time, it's all about the Non-Profits, Registered Charities, Social Enterprises and Community Service Organizations!

The Advisory Cafe will host representatives from Volunteer BC, Leadership Vancouver Island, Warmland Restorative Justice Society, Canadian Association of Gift Planners, Association of Fundraising Professionals and Charityworks (Capital Region Charitable Gaming Association) who will be on hand to provide advisory services, information and resources throughout the day.

In this session, a panel of funding and development specialists will discuss successful strategies for grant writing and the completion of funding applications. Learn how to avoid common application pit-falls and prepare and submit the necessary supporting documentation.

STORYTELLING FOR MEDIA | CYNTHIA LOCKREY | LOCKREY COMMUNICATIONS
We all love to hear a good story. Stories are key to making a personal connection and engaging an audience. This session focuses on how to use storytelling to gain media coverage and engage your audience on social media. I’ll share some tools and techniques to help you get clear on your audience and tailor your story to best connect with them. We’ll look at the traditional and social media landscape, discussing different ways to share your story. Finally, we’ll talk about common challenges using social media (selling not educating, lack of one voice, multiple people posting, boring posts). You will gain the knowledge and confidence to share your stories and be heard!

Symposium participants and attendees are invitied to the end-of-day networking social. A selection of complimentary appetizers will be on offer and a cash bar will be available for those wishing to purchase refreshments.
