DESCRIPTION:In Panel 2 of Lifecycle of a Business\, MNP Moderator Cara Light and guest panelists will take participants through key strategies and check-points in supporting your business as it matures and building the framework for a successful exit strategy.  If your business has surpassed the 5 year mark\, or if you are looking to sell or step back from your business\, this Panel Session is for you.  \n\n \n\n\nCARA LIGHT\, MNP LLP | MODERATOR\n\nCara\, B.Comm\, CPA\, CA\, is a Senior Manager and Business Advisor based in MNP's Duncan office.  Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in public practice\, Cara works closely with private enterprises and not-for-profit organizations to help them make sense of their finances and achieve their personal and business goals.  Cara also provides business management advice to support clients in finding solutions to grow and operate their businesses.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCAROLL TAIJI\, TAIJI BRAND GROUP | PANELIST\n\nCaroll is an award-winning creative thinker and strategist with over 30 years of experience developing authentic\, powerful brands that stand for something real and inspire deep loyalty.  Before starting her own agency\, she was a creative director for Palmer Jarvis DDB and was also Vice President of Organizational Development.  As President of Taiji Brand Group\, Caroll has evolved a virtual creative agency model\, which is now being emulated by others as the industry adjusts to changing global conditions.\n\n\n\n\n\nGRANT MCKINNON\, PACIFIC HOMES | PANELIST\n\nBorn and raised in Cowichan\, Grant obtained a degree in Forestry at UBC and worked in the woods for a major forestry company for several years.  He returned to family-owned Pacific Builders Supplies in 1992 and later took over as the second generation of leadership with his brothers in 1995.  At one time they had 3 truss plants\, 4 Rona stores\, 3 bars and over 500 employees. In September of this year\, Grant completed the sale of the operating business to Winnipeg-based All-Fab Group\, but will stay on as Executive Director.\n\n\n\nPETER RICHMOND\, 49TH PARALLEL GROCERY | PANELIST | Peter is the current President of the 49th Parallel Grocery group\, which includes four community-minded grocery stores\, a flower shop\, two dollar stores and a print shop.  Peter graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Commerce and earned his CPA designation in 1989 before returning to the island in 1996 to help the family business\, expanding from one store to two.  49th Grocery is in the early stages of building a second Grocery store at Berkeys Corner in Duncan.\n\n \n\nKENNETH CHIU\, SCOTIABANK | PANELIST\n\nMike has been in the financial services industry for over 12 years with experience in multiple business lines including Auto Finance\, Commercial Banking and Small Business.  Born and raised on his family farm in the Cowichan Valley\, Mike's current role is to develop and help build Small Business for Vancouver Island from Port Hardy to Victoria.
