The Chamber is delighted to welcome Luke Biles from MNP, for our first Speaker Series Luncheon of the 2019/2020 program year. Luke will address the current and future state of the cannabis industry, both globally and locally, nearly one year after legalization. Luke Biles, CPA, CA is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Business Advisor with MNP. Based in Victoria, Luke provides accounting, tax and management advice to privately-held companies in a range of industries, and he leads MNP’s cannabis industry practice on Vancouver Island. Prior to joining MNP, Luke was the Financial Controller for Rubicon Organics, a Vancouver-based cannabis start-up focusing on the production and branding of cannabis products in the Pacific Northwest. At Rubicon, his duties included supervising the accounting, finance, and IT departments, developing streamlined processes to meet internal and external (seed-to-sale) reporting requirements, developing budgets and forecasts for operational and capital requirements, and stepping in to manage production, packaging, and distribution operations as needed. Through his direct industry experience, Luke brings an on-the-ground understanding of the complex challenges faced by new and existing cannabis businesses.
