The scene is set in the 1920’s and you’re invited to hear and taste all about it. Prohibition has resulted in a “dry” Vancouver Island, like the rest of Canada and the United States, but not at Merridale! Let’s just say that we believe in hosting speakeasies and creating a little moonshine to keep our islanders happy. Like all good speakeasies, you will need the secret password to gain entrance to this night of entertainment. Greeted by the sultry Dame of Merridale at the farmhouse, you will find the room alive with jazz music. Start with appetizers from the 20’s, and grab a cocktail before finding your seat for the first performance on the deck. You will move between set stages in the orchard, distillery and farmhouse listening to music and watching short vignettes. The story of Merridale’s contribution to the end of prohibition will unfold to music and theatre – It all started with the apple, of course! Your evening will be completed with a long table style dinner and if you “speak easy” to the bartender, we are sure the cocktails will flow. We encourage you to come in costume. We certainly will be! Visit our website for ticket purchase information. Seating is limited so book early!
