Westcoast Metis Cultural Society

The Westcoast Metis Cultural Society was created to advance cultural knowledge for Metis persons, and to further educate the greater community about Metis history and culture.

The 2016 Canadian Census, documents 90,000 self-identified Metis within BC. Some 20,000 of those are registered citizens of Metis Nation BC and reside within Region 1, which encompasses Vancouver Island and Powell River.

We intend to: (1.) establish and operate a Metis Cultural Education Centre to celebrate and share Metis history and culture and (2.) raise funds and accept donations to: (i) provide grants, bursaries and endowments that support Metis youth in their education endeavours (ii) send Metis youth and their chaperones to Metis cultural events in Western Canada.
